New Delhi, Sep 17 (NationPress) Host India is set to compete against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, and Nepal in the BWF World Junior Championships Mixed Team event following a recent redraw of the group stages on Wednesday. The withdrawal of the Cook Islands necessitated a reshuffle by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), impacting the lineup of the current 36 nations participating in this prestigious tournament, also known as the Suhandinata Cup.
The upcoming BWF World Junior Championships 2025, returning to India after a 17-year hiatus, will take place in Guwahati from October 6-19, hosted at the state-of-the-art National Centre of Excellence.
India, which is seeded second in the competition, remains in Group H during the qualifying stages. While Nepal retains its position in the group, the UAE and Sri Lanka have been incorporated into Group H as per the revised draw.
This redraw has significantly altered the composition of other groups as well. The top-seeded Thailand continues in Group A, where it will face off against Japan, Portugal, and Ireland, marking a complete overhaul from the previous arrangement. The defending champions, Indonesia, will compete in Group F against Hong Kong China, Slovenia, and the Philippines.
