New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Indian cricket team has made a resounding impact in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, showcasing an impressive unbeaten streak during the group stage and securing their spot in the Super 8 round with one Group A match remaining. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is optimistic, stating that the Men in Blue are on the “right path.”

With a perfect record so far, India is set to face the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, aiming for a fourth consecutive victory to carry forward their momentum into the Super 8s.

“Team India is progressing well in the tournament... hoping the momentum continues till the end,” Saikia shared with IANS.

The defending champions kicked off their journey with a nail-biting win against the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After a shaky start at 77/6, the team relied on skipper Suryakumar Yadav for guidance. His resilient knock of 84 not out under pressure helped India to a respectable total, while the bowlers effectively restricted the USA, clinching a 29-run victory.

In their second match against Namibia, India delivered one of their most dominant performances of the tournament. A commanding total of 209/9 was achieved through stellar contributions from the top and middle order, including a swift 61 from Ishan Kishan and a quick 52 from Hardik Pandya. The bowlers then dismantled Namibia’s batting order with disciplined aggression, resulting in a convincing 93-run win.

India's standout performance came during their much-anticipated clash with arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo. After being asked to bat first, India set a formidable target of 175/7, driven by a sensational 77 off just 40 balls from Kishan, whose explosive innings set the stage.

A well-coordinated bowling display led to Pakistan being bowled out for 114, securing a dominant 61-run victory for India, marking their largest margin of victory over Pakistan in T20 World Cup history and effectively ensuring their Super 8 qualification.

With three victories under their belt and a positive net run rate, India has not only progressed to the next stage but has done so with confidence.
