New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) is set to showcase India at the 2025 Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Conference, Asian Awards, and General Assembly, taking place from August 10 to 15 in Astana, Kazakhstan. PCI President Devendra Jhajharia and General Secretary Jaywant Hammanavar will represent the nation at this significant event.

This esteemed assembly will unite representatives from 45 Asian National Paralympic Committees (NPC), along with athletes, delegates, APC Executive Board members, standing committees, international federations, games organising committees, and global sports organisations. With over 200 participants anticipated, this event is pivotal for the advancement and governance of para-sports in Asia.

The week-long agenda will kick off with a two-day conference featuring presentations and workshops focused on numerous topics essential for the development of para-sports. This will be succeeded by the formal proceedings of the General Assembly, where critical decisions, including the endorsement of the APC strategic plan and financial accounts, will be made.

A major highlight of this gathering will be the Asian Awards, which will celebrate the finest para-athletes, officials, and performers across seven categories, such as Best Male and Female Athletes, Youth Athlete, Team Performance, Exemplary Official, Best Photography, and Outstanding NPC Performance.

Before the event, Jhajharia voiced India's dedication to actively participating in discussions and showcasing the nation's initiatives in para sports. “The 2025 APC Conference and Assembly serves as a crucial platform for collaboration and demonstrating the efforts each nation is making to uplift para-athletes. India is currently undergoing a transformative phase in para sports, and we are eager to share our journey, particularly our preparations for the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi.
