New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) The NBA's Christmas Day matchups have consistently been a highly anticipated event on the calendar. However, scheduled for Thursday (IST), the games are facing challenges as various star players are likely to be sidelined due to injuries.
The Phoenix Suns' guard Devin Booker will not participate in the showdown against the Denver Nuggets due to a groin strain, marking his absence for the third consecutive game. The Suns currently hold the 11th spot in the Western Conference with a balanced record of 14-14.
One of the most eagerly awaited matchups, the Los Angeles Lakers versus Golden State Warriors, is also facing injury concerns, as both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are listed as questionable for the contest.
LeBron has recently been sidelined for two games with left foot soreness against the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves and is undergoing injury management, as the Lakers prefer not to take any chances with their star player. Meanwhile, Davis is dealing with a shoulder injury. Both players participated in the Lakers' narrow 114-117 defeat to the Detroit Pistons.
The Dallas Mavericks, aiming to replicate their success from the previous season, have been performing well and currently occupy the fourth position in the Western Conference. Their star player Luka Doncic, who missed two games last week due to a left heel injury, returned for the team's victory over the Portland Trail Blazers but is now considered questionable for the matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Defending NBA Champions Boston Celtics are set to host the Philadelphia 76ers at the TD Garden on Thursday (IST) but may have to cope without their star player Jayson Tatum, who missed the game against the Orlando Magic on Monday due to illness.
