Injury Concerns for Rohit and KL Rahul Before Boxing Day Test

Melbourne, Dec 22 (NationPress) As the Indian cricket team prepares for the Boxing Day Test against Australia, captain Rohit Sharma and opener KL Rahul experienced injury concerns during their practice session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.

Rohit sustained a painful impact to the left side of his knee while facing throwdowns. Although he attempted to persist with his practice, he ultimately required medical assistance and was seen seated with an ice pack on his knee for nearly 25 minutes.

In a separate incident, Rahul was struck on his right hand during the training, necessitating immediate medical care. The BCCI and the Indian team have yet to issue any official updates regarding the condition of Rohit and Rahul following these injury scares.

Seamer Akash Deep also faced a blow to his hand during the session but mentioned in a press conference, "The practice pitch is probably configured for white-ball cricket; the ball occasionally kept low. These minor injuries are common during training, and there are no significant worries. I am okay."

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rohit, and Rishabh Pant engaged in extensive batting practice, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and other pace bowlers trained with high intensity.

The Indian team will observe a rest day on Monday before the commencement of the fourth Test on December 26. Currently, the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series stands at 1-1.

India kicked off the series with a dominant 295-run victory in Perth, followed by Australia staging a comeback with a ten-wicket win in Adelaide, and the two teams ended in a draw during a rain-affected match in Brisbane.
