Injury sidelines Stefanie as West Indies women's squad is revealed for India white-ball tour

St. John's (Antigua), Nov 28 (NationPress) Star all-rounder Stefanie Taylor is absent due to injury as Cricket West Indies (CW) has announced the squad for the West Indies women's tour of India for a multi-format series scheduled for December.
This tour includes three T20 Internationals followed by three One-Day Internationals.
The 33-year-old Stefanie sustained a knee injury during the previous month’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, causing her to miss one match in that tournament. She is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
Hayley Matthews will captain the team during the series, while former captain Deandra Dottin will make her return to ODI cricket for the first time in over two years after some impressive performances during the recent T20 World Cup.
Pacer Shabika Gajnabi and wicket-keeper-batter Rashada Williams will rejoin the squad after missing the T20 World Cup.
The T20I series is set to kick off at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on December 15, followed by the ODI series at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara starting on December 22. This ODI segment is vital for the ICC Women's Championship.
The last white-ball series between these teams in India in 2016 witnessed the West Indies achieving a 3-0 victory in the T20Is, while India secured the ODI series 3-0.
Head Coach Shane Deitz expressed his optimism about the squad, stating, “We aim to carry the positive momentum from the T20 World Cup into this series. We demonstrated our ability to compete with the top teams, which was gratifying.”
He added, “Since my tenure began, I've observed enhancements in all aspects, but we still have a considerable journey ahead. Maintaining consistency in high-level performance is essential, and this presents a great opportunity to engage in six matches against one of the best teams globally.”
The West Indies Women will commence their series on December 15, following a 10-day acclimatization camp in India.
