Hyderabad, April 7 (NationPress) The pacer for Gujarat Titans, Ishant Sharma, has received a penalty of 25 percent of his match fees and has incurred one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The official statement from BCCI noted, "Ishant Sharma acknowledged the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 and accepted the Match Referee’s decision. For Level 1 infractions of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's ruling is final and must be adhered to."

According to the IPL code of conduct, Article 2.2 pertains to the misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, and ground fixtures during matches.

This includes actions outside the standard course of cricket, such as striking or kicking the wickets and any deliberate or reckless actions that lead to damage to advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows, and other fixtures.

On a brighter note, GT achieved a remarkable hat-trick of victories, propelling them to second place in the IPL 2025 points table following a convincing seven-wicket win against the hosts, SRH.

The bowling squad was crucial in GT's impressive performance, with Player of the Match Mohd. Siraj shining with 4-17, marking his career-best bowling figures in the IPL, as SRH was limited to 152/8.

On the other hand, Ishant was the costliest GT bowler on the day, failing to take any wickets while conceding 53 runs in his four-over stint.

Captain Shubman Gill expertly led the chase of 153 with a stylish 60 not out off 42 balls, supported by the fluent innings of Washington Sundar and Sherfane Rutherford, helping GT reach their target with 20 deliveries to spare.
