New Delhi, Dec 25 (NationPress) Riding high on their home win percentage, Punjab FC aims to bounce back after two successive away defeats. The Shers, playing their final fixture of 2024, are set to face the league toppers, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, tomorrow at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Punjab currently sits in seventh place with 18 points from 6 wins and will strive to strengthen their playoff hopes with a victory against the Kolkata giants. The Boxing Day match is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM.
Before the match, PFC Head Coach Panagiotis Dilmperis stated, “Every game is a tactical process; it’s never just about one individual or team. Our focus is on supporting the boys, especially our young players. We have a clear plan, and that will be visible on the field tomorrow. There’s no stress or pressure; we approach tomorrow’s match with confidence.”
Both teams, having had unimpressive away fixtures, will enter the match aiming for victory. However, Punjab will enjoy the added advantage of playing on their home turf. Each team will be without significant players in their line-ups due to injuries and suspensions, and the game is anticipated to display high-quality football from both sides.
During the pre-match press conference, midfielder Manglenthang Kipgen remarked, “The coach believed in me and gave me the opportunity. I always strive to give my best on the field. There’s no pressure as we face Mohun Bagan tomorrow; we are confident and ready to give it our all.”
Both Punjab FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant enter this match following away defeats. The former lost 2-4 to East Bengal, while the latter faced a 1-2 defeat against FC Goa.
