Hamilton, March 16 (NationPress) New Zealand cricketer Bevon Jacobs has been sidelined for the second T20I against South Africa at Seddon Park due to a left knee injury, as confirmed by New Zealand Cricket (NZC).
In his place, Katene Clarke will be joining the Blackcaps squad as a replacement for Jacobs. Clarke was initially set to join the New Zealand team for the fourth and fifth T20I matches along with Dane Cleaver, Jayden Lennox, and Tom Latham.
According to NZC, “Jacobs left the field on Sunday night during the first T20I after injuring his left knee while fielding. Subsequent imaging tests showed bone bruising on the side of his knee. Further evaluation is necessary to ascertain Jacobs’ timeline for returning to play.”
The New Zealand team arrived in Hamilton on Monday in preparation for the T20I double-header at Seddon Park on Tuesday. The women’s match against South Africa is scheduled for 2:15 PM local time, followed by the men’s match at 7:15 PM local time.
