Nagpur, Feb 6 (NationPress) Ravindra Jadeja achieved a significant milestone on Thursday, becoming the fifth Indian bowler to capture 600 international wickets across all three formats. This remarkable accomplishment took place during the first ODI against England at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Jadeja reached this historic milestone with his third wicket of the match, concluding his spell with impressive figures of 3-26 in nine overs, helping India dismiss the visitors for 248 runs in 47.4 overs.

With this achievement, Jadeja joins an exclusive group of Indian bowlers who have surpassed the 600-wicket mark, including legends like Anil Kumble (953), Ravichandran Ashwin (765), Harbhajan Singh (707), and Kapil Dev (687).

He made an immediate impact upon entering the attack in the 15th over, showcasing his ability to extract sharp turn from the pitch. While Axar Patel bowled prior to him, it was Jadeja's seasoned skill that proved pivotal in the contest between left-arm spinners in the ODI series opener.

Jadeja's first wicket came when he deceived Joe Root with a swift delivery, trapping him lbw. He followed this up with a vital breakthrough by dismissing Jacob Bethell, who had made 51 runs, in a similar manner.

His final dismissal was Adil Rashid, whom he clean bowled, wrapping up an impressive performance.

Since his international debut in 2009, Jadeja has been a crucial player for India across all formats. His adaptability as a bowler, batsman, and fielder has established him as a genuine match-winner over the years.

His statistics across formats highlight his all-round excellence: in Tests, he has taken 323 wickets while scoring 3,370 runs. In ODIs, he boasts 223 wickets in 198 matches, including two five-wicket hauls.

Jadeja concluded his T20I career after India secured the 2024 T20I World Cup title last year.

With over 200 ODI wickets, he is among seven Indian bowlers to reach this milestone, joining the ranks of Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar, and Harbhajan Singh.
