Jaipur, April 29 (NationPress) Former India cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar praised Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for his composed innings of an unbeaten 70, showcasing maturity during the match against Gujarat Titans.
In pursuit of 210 runs for victory, Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided a sensational start for their team. The pair formed a remarkable 161-run partnership, marking the highest in the history of Rajasthan Royals.
Jaiswal reached his fifty off just 31 balls in the 12th over before Suryavanshi was dismissed after an electrifying 101 runs off 38 balls, which is the second-fastest century in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian player.
Additionally, Jaiswal became the fifth fastest player to achieve 2000 runs in the Indian Premier League, scoring an unbeaten 70 off 40 balls.
As Rajasthan Royals’ leading run-scorer in IPL 2025 with 426 runs in 10 matches, Jaiswal hit the 2000-run mark in 62 innings, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved this feat in 63 innings.
"It was a remarkable innings. In the previous match against RCB, he lost his rhythm somewhat during the chase, but today he displayed professionalism. He ensured he didn’t disrupt the younger player’s rhythm at the other end and kept his cool. When it was time to accelerate towards the end, he did so wisely," Bangar remarked on JioHotstar.
Before Monday’s match against GT, Jaiswal required just 37 runs to reach the milestone.
This dynamic left-hander is also the third fastest Indian to achieve this milestone in IPL history, following Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 innings) and KL Rahul (60 innings).
On the other hand, Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest player to reach 2000 runs in the IPL, accomplishing this in a mere 48 innings. Shaun Marsh follows in second place with 52 innings.
