New Delhi, July 15 (NationPress) James Anderson is set to participate in The Hundred this season after being chosen in the Wildcard Draft.
At 42 years old, Anderson, a legendary figure in England cricket and regarded as one of the sport's greatest bowlers, has been picked by Manchester Originals and is ready to make his debut in the domestic franchise league.
Rocky Flintoff will reunite with his father, Andrew Flintoff, who serves as Head Coach for Northern Superchargers.
They are among the 32 players selected in The Hundred Wildcard Draft, which updates the 16 teams ahead of the competition's fifth year.
Joining Anderson at the Originals is Esmae Macgregor, who has had a standout domestic season, leading the wicket-taking charts in the Vitality Blast Women’s Competition.
The Wildcard Draft provides a chance for players who were not picked initially in The Hundred to secure a spot through exceptional performances in the Vitality Blast Men’s and Women’s competitions during the first three months of the domestic season.
Hilton Cartwright was the only overseas selection, taking a spot at Southern Brave that became available after Faf du Plessis withdrew due to injury. Jason Roy will take his place at Brave.
"I'm incredibly excited about The Hundred and thrilled to join the Manchester Originals team. My time with Lancashire this season has been fantastic, and I look forward to contributing in The Hundred," said Anderson.
"It's a tournament I've greatly enjoyed watching. The atmosphere at the games attracts a younger crowd and families, which is vital for our sport. I can't wait to get out there!"
