Nottingham, Aug 18 (NationPress) - Nottingham Forest has officially confirmed the acquisition of Arnaud Kalimuendo, who has signed a five-year contract with the club. The 23-year-old forward had an impressive campaign in Ligue 1 during the 2024/25 season, netting 18 goals and providing four assists across 34 appearances for Stade Rennais.
The French talent began his journey at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) when he was just ten years old, progressing through the ranks of the renowned academy. At the age of 16, he made his debut with the under-19 team in the UEFA Youth League, and by 2020, he had made his official first-team debut, extending his contract with the 13-time French champions that same year.
“Upon hearing of Forest's interest, I felt truly honored. This is a significant moment for me as I join a club with a remarkable history and a strong performance last season,” said Kalimuendo.
“I’m prepared for this challenge and come with valuable experience. After a productive season filled with goals and assists, I'm eager to elevate my game here. I cannot wait to compete in the Premier League and play at the City Ground. Having watched last season's matches, it's evident that the fans foster a fantastic atmosphere. I'm looking forward to engaging with them and getting started,” Kalimuendo added.
Having enjoyed two fruitful loan spells at Lens, where he scored 21 goals in 65 appearances, Kalimuendo concluded his decade-long tenure with PSG, transferring to Rennes in August 2022. He has since participated in the Europa League during his first two campaigns with the Ligue 1 club, making over 100 appearances and netting 40 goals.
Primarily a centre-forward, but also capable of stretching defenses and playing wide, Kalimuendo is a nimble attacker who arrives at Trentside following his most prolific scoring season.
Ross Wilson, Chief Football Officer, stated, “It has been a hectic few days for us, culminating from the diligent efforts of our staff over several weeks.
“We have closely monitored Arnaud's development through his time at PSG, Lens, and Rennes, and we are thrilled that the next chapter of his career will unfold here in Nottingham. He brings genuine excitement and energy, which we eagerly anticipate seeing on the pitch.”
