London, Aug 1 (NationPress) The English Premier League club Nottingham Forest has successfully secured the services of Swiss international winger Dan Ndoye from Serie A's Bologna in a deal approximated at £35 million (approximately $46.2 million). Ndoye has signed a five-year contract with Nottingham Forest, stepping into the role left vacant by Anthony Elanga's transfer to Newcastle United earlier this summer.
The talented winger joins Forest following a standout season with Bologna, where he notched up nine goals and six assists. His significant contribution in the Coppa Italia final, where he scored the decisive goal, helped Bologna secure their first major trophy in over five decades, as reported by Xinhua.
"I am genuinely thrilled to have signed for the club," Ndoye expressed on the Forest website, mentioning his motivation to join a team that will compete in the Europa League next season, following a remarkable seventh-place finish in the Premier League.
"It's a very exciting period at Forest, and I knew instantly that I wanted to be part of this project. It's an ambitious team with a rich history, and I'm eager to begin my journey here," he further added.
At just 24 years old, Ndoye participated in all of Bologna’s eight Champions League matches, totaling 41 appearances for the season and scoring nine times. His performance was not limited to goals but also showcased his skills as a creative playmaker, registering six assists, with only five players in Serie A achieving better ball-carrying statistics during the 2024/25 season.
Renowned for his creativity, speed, versatility, and direct playing style, Ndoye arrives at Trentside with an impressive resume for someone of his age. Born in Nyon, Switzerland, he joined the Lausanne-Sport academy early on, progressing through the ranks before making his professional debut at 18.
After a stint in France with Nice, Ndoye returned to Switzerland, signing with Basel in February 2022 after a successful loan period with the 20-time Swiss champions.
His excellent form at Basel drew the attention of Bologna, where he spent the last two seasons.
Since making his international debut in 2022, Ndoye has earned 22 caps for Switzerland, including five at Euro 2024, where he started every match in the team’s journey to the quarter-final, scoring a pivotal group stage goal against Germany.
