Bengaluru, March 16 (NationPress) Former national champion Kishan R. from Karnataka has successfully secured his second national title in the men’s division at the ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships, which wrapped up at Amoeba, Church Street, Bengaluru, on Monday.
In the women's division, Preemal J. from Karnataka achieved her first national title, marking the end of a 15-year drought for the state in this category.
During the Championship Match, which was based on the cumulative pinfall of two games, the top-seeded Kishan delivered a stellar performance, leading by 17 pins in Game 1 with scores of 208 to 191. He further widened his lead in the second game, achieving a high score of 244 against Akaash's 238, ultimately winning the title by an overall margin of 23 pins (452–429).
Earlier, in Match 1 of the men’s division stepladder round, third seed Akaash Ashok Kumar (358) triumphed over fourth seed Shanmugananda (308) by 50 pins. Akaash continued his impressive form into the next match, scoring 476 and defeating second seed Dhruv Sarda (374) by 102 pins to advance to the final.
In the Championship Match, fourth-seeded Preemal J. took an early lead of 20 pins in the first game with a score of 188 against top-seeded Sabina Athica from Tamil Nadu (168). Despite a closely contested second game, Preemal held her composure to clinch victory, earning her first national title by a margin of 24 pins (332–308).
Earlier in the day, in the first match of the women’s division stepladder round, fourth seed Preemal (357) defeated third seed Shabeena Kasmani from Maharashtra (338) by 19 pins. She then narrowly defeated second seed Anukriti Bishnoi from Haryana, scoring 422 to 409, winning by 13 pins to qualify for the final.
