Day 5 Highlights: Mizoram, Haryana, Bengal, Bihar, and Maharashtra Excel at the Sub Junior Women’s Championship

Secunderabad, Nov 30 (NationPress) The fifth day of the 14th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2024 witnessed Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Haryana, Hockey Bihar, Hockey Bengal, and Hockey Maharashtra all earning three points in their matches at the South Central Railways Sports Complex, RRC Ground, Rail Nilayam.

The opening match of the day had Kerala Hockey and Hockey Arunachal finishing in a goalless draw in Pool E. In another Pool E match, Hockey Mizoram triumphed over Hockey Chandigarh with a score of 4-1, maintaining their winning momentum. Captain Laltlanchhungi (6’), Vanlalrinhlui (9’), Laldinpuii (21’), and Manglawmsang (51’) contributed goals for the winning team, while Tamanna (8’) netted the only goal for Hockey Chandigarh.

In Pool A, Hockey Haryana outperformed Manipur Hockey with a decisive 4-0 victory. Diya (44’, 50’) scored two goals, and both Manjinder (17’) and Neeshu (39’) added one goal each to the tally.

Hockey Bengal dominated Le Puducherry Hockey with a score of 7-1 in Pool H. Captain Bulbul Kumari Shaw (2’, 23’, 55’) showcased an impressive hattrick. Purba Chakraborty (24’, 32’) and Piyali Oraw (16’, 29’) also scored braces for Hockey Bengal, while Manasvi B.U (50’) managed a single goal for Le Puducherry Hockey.

In Pool F, Hockey Jammu and Kashmir was scheduled to compete against Hockey Bihar, but the former forfeited, granting Hockey Bihar a 5-0 victory.

In the concluding match of the day, Pool G featured Hockey Maharashtra edging out Hockey Gujarat, 1-0. In the second quarter, Captain Yashasvi Kubde (29’) netted the decisive goal for Hockey Maharashtra.
