Day 6 Results: Victories for Chandigarh, Mizoram, and Punjab in Sub-jr Women's National Hockey

Secunderabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) Teams from Chandigarh, Mizoram, Punjab, Manipur, and Andhra Pradesh triumphed over their competitors on the sixth day of the 14th Hockey India Sub-junior Women’s National Championship 2024 at the South Central Railways Sports Complex here on Monday.
Hockey Chandigarh started the day by defeating Hockey Arunachal 3-1 in Pool E. Captain Apram (7’), Annu (13’), and Tamanna (31’) netted goals for Chandigarh, while Captain Ranu Tiwari (60’) scored the sole goal for Hockey Arunachal. In the same pool, Hockey Mizoram dominated Kerala Hockey with a score of 7-0, led by Laldinpuii who scored four goals (16’, 18’, 31’, 52’). Contributions also came from Captain Laltlanchhungi (11’), Vanlalrinhlui (29’), and Manglawmsang (40’), each scoring a goal.
In Pool G, Hockey Punjab triumphed over Assam Hockey with a staggering score of 9-0. Captain Sanna showcased an outstanding performance, netting six goals (12’, 15’, 36’, 47’, 53’, 57’). Other scorers included Khushveer Kaur (3’), Saloni (33’), and Maskeenpreet Kaur (51’).
Manipur Hockey achieved victory in its Pool A matchup against Dadra & Nagar Haveli And Daman & Diu Hockey with a score of 5-1. Captain Devi Moirangthem Prinja (2’, 51’) and Huidrom Bidyaluxmi Devi (33’, 52’) each scored braces, while Seram Henthoi Chanu (49’) added another goal. Rashi Singh (37’) scored the only goal for Dadra & Nagar Haveli And Daman & Diu Hockey.
In Pool H, Hockey Andhra Pradesh showcased an extraordinary performance, crushing Le Puducherry Hockey with a score of 26-1. Captain Tulasi Kuppa led her team, scoring an impressive nine goals (6’, 12’, 21’, 23’, 32’, 33’, 34’, 43’, 56’). Other notable scorers included Nandini Munipalli Naga (16’, 28’, 29’, 54’), Pujari Madhurima Bai (26’, 39’, 42’, 47’), Lakshmi Pariki (8’, 32’, 37’), Teja Chilluru Naga (14’, 24’), Vaishnavi Mandala (19’, 45’), Patan Mujiya Begum (11’), and Joshna Thirumalashetty (41’). Nilaoviya (28’) scored the only goal for Le Puducherry Hockey.
In Pool F, Hockey Bihar and Hockey Karnataka played to a scoreless draw, resulting in both teams failing to advance to the knockout stages.
The quarterfinals will feature Uttar Pradesh Hockey against Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Jharkhand facing off against Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Haryana going up against Hockey Madhya Pradesh, and the Hockey Association of Odisha squaring off with Delhi Hockey in the last-eight stage.
Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Tuesday.
