Final Showdown: Madhya Pradesh to Compete Against Jharkhand in Sub Junior Women’s Championship

Secunderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Hockey Jharkhand both emerged victorious in their semifinal clashes, securing their positions in the final of the 14th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2024, taking place at the South Central Railways Sports Complex, RRC Ground, Rail Nilayam.
In the first semifinal of the day, Hockey Madhya Pradesh triumphed over Hockey Mizoram with a score of 3-2. Despite an early goal from Ruthi Lallawmzualli (3’) that gave Hockey Mizoram the lead, Hockey Madhya Pradesh responded with goals from Naz Nousheen (13’) and Rubi Rathore (32’), putting them ahead. Captain Laltlanchhungi (52’) managed to equalize for Mizoram in the fourth quarter, but a late goal from Tanvi (56’) ensured Hockey Madhya Pradesh advanced to the final.
In the second semifinal, Hockey Jharkhand overcame Hockey Association of Odisha, finishing the game 1-1 (3-2 SO) after a tie in regular time. Manjhi Pushpa (8’) netted an early goal to give Hockey Jharkhand the advantage. However, Anjana Xaxa (45+) leveled the score for the Odisha team through a penalty corner. With no further goals in the subsequent quarters, the match proceeded to a shootout, where Hockey Jharkhand clinched victory 3-2, with successful conversions from Hemrom Leoni, Rina Kullu, and Anupriya Soreng.
The match for 3rd/4th place between Hockey Mizoram and Hockey Association of Odisha is scheduled for Friday at 11:00 AM, while Hockey Madhya Pradesh will face Hockey Jharkhand in the championship final at 1:00 PM on the same day.
