Melbourne, Sep 6 (NationPress) Promising young batter Campbell Kellaway expressed his eagerness to leverage insights gained from earlier excursions to India during the upcoming series of two four-day matches with the Australia ‘A’ team in Lucknow. Kellaway is expected to join current Test opener Sam Konstas at the top of the order, as the selection committee, led by George Bailey, aims to develop players for future tours in the subcontinent, including the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy set for India in early 2027.

Besides participating in a pre-season camp with his home state, Victoria, Kellaway also attended a two-week training camp at the MRF Academy in Chennai along with 12 other Australian players during July-August this year, a trip he also made in 2023. "For me, it’s just about starting the season strong for the Vics and also enjoying the challenges of the Aussie A games in Lucknow to see how it unfolds," he stated.

"Playing cricket in India is quite exciting. I was just over there (in July-August) for the MRF Academy, and experiencing the conditions is so different from what we have here in Shield and one-day cricket in Australia. Any opportunity to play there is beneficial for my cricket development," Kellaway mentioned in an interview with cricket.com.au on Saturday.

The BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow has hosted only one Test match, where spinners took 25 out of 31 wickets, indicating that spin will pose a significant challenge for Kellaway. "Having gone to the MRF Academy a second time, I had a better understanding of what to expect regarding the pitch conditions and how I could adjust my game to tackle the spin-friendly environment," he elaborated.

"It served as excellent preparation for the upcoming cricket in Lucknow. I have a clearer strategy for playing on turning tracks, and it’s all about implementing that plan," he concluded.
