New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) The Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, praised the successful conclusion of the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) 2025 held here on Thursday. Nearly 1300 athletes participated in six para disciplines across three venues in Delhi. Haryana secured the team championship, followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Khadse, who served as the chief guest at the KIPG closing ceremony at the IG Stadium, emphasized the Indian government’s dedication to advancing para-sports through innovative initiatives.

“Under the guidance of Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi ji, we will leave no stone unturned in our quest to support para-athletes,” Raksha Khadse remarked during the ceremony.

She continued, “The para-athletes who achieved medals in this tournament have inspired many. This year’s Khelo India Para Games also featured significant participation from athletes hailing from the North East states. A total of 18 national records were established, with 12 of those set by women. Over 400 women participated in this tournament, showcasing a commendable level of engagement.

“We anticipate that many athletes from the Khelo India Para Games 2025 will compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics and hope they will bring home numerous medals,” she stated, as reported by SAI Media in a release on Thursday.

During the ceremony, which coincided with World Accessibility Day, Khadse introduced the ‘Handbook on Accessibility of Sports Facilities in the presence of former India cricketer Syed Saba Karim, Sminu Jindal from Svayam, the official accessibility partner for Khelo India Para Games, and Mayank Srivastava, Deputy Director General of SAI.

Khadse expressed admiration for the women athletes who participated in the Khelo India Para Games, noting that out of the 18 records set, 12 were achieved by women. “This demonstrates how far our women have come and underscores the need for their support at every stage,” she stated.

The second edition of the Khelo India Para Games unfolded from March 20 to 27, 2025, across three venues in New Delhi, featuring six sports disciplines: Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis, Para Powerlifting, and Para Shooting.
