Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Feb 26 (NationPress): The Bengaluru golfer Khalin Joshi delivered an impressive nine-under 60, taking a one-shot lead with a cumulative score of 14-under 124 in Round Two of the INR 1 crore Chhattisgarh Open 2025, held at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort on Wednesday. International winner Khalin Joshi (64-60), who matched the tournament's low score of 60 set by Shaurya Binu in the first round, advanced 12 spots from his previous tied 13th position to secure the solo lead at the midway point.
Delhi’s Shaurya Bhattacharya (64-61) and Gurugram’s Kartik Sharma (63-62) finished the day tied for second place at 13-under 125, both having recorded bogey-free rounds of 61 and 62, respectively. Shaurya climbed 11 spots, while Kartik ascended five positions on day two. Shaurya Binu, the leader from round one, shot a 67, dropping to tied eighth at 11-under 127. Shankar Das from Kolkata achieved a hole-in-one on the second hole during his round of 66, placing him tied 43rd at four-under 134.
The cut was set at four-under 134, with sixty professionals making it through. Khalin Joshi had a subdued front nine with three birdies and one bogey. His back nine, however, propelled him to the top, featuring an eagle from a chip-in on the 12th and six additional birdies against just one bogey.
Joshi, a six-time pro title winner and former PGTI No. 1, set himself up for a simple birdie after a superb chip on the 11th. He also made several birdie putts from six to eight feet.
“I hit the ball much better than my first round, and my putting was consistently strong. The eagle on the 12th really boosted my momentum. I enjoy the layout here; while the Par-5s are achievable, the Par-3s present a significant challenge. I managed the Par-5s and Par-3s effectively today. The breezy conditions and hazards add to the difficulty at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort,” Khalin remarked.
Among notable competitors, Udayan Mane (66) was tied 15th at nine-under 129, while Om Prakash Chouhan (66) stood tied 32nd at six-under 132.
