Munich, Oct 21 (NationPress) Bayern Munich's manager Vincent Kompany has successfully secured a two-year extension to his contract on Tuesday, ensuring his presence at the club until June 2029. The former captain of Manchester City took the helm of the Bundesliga powerhouse in May 2024, with his original agreement scheduled to expire in the summer of 2027.

Since taking charge, the 39-year-old Belgian has made a significant impression, leading Bayern to the Bundesliga championship last season. Under his guidance, the club has achieved 49 victories in 67 matches across all competitions.

"I am thankful, privileged, and would like to express my gratitude to Bayern for the trust and positive work environment they have provided me from day one," Kompany stated.

"It feels as though I've been part of this club for much longer and that I have a deep understanding of it. This journey has been fantastic so far. We have embarked on an incredible path. Let’s continue to work hard and celebrate even greater achievements together."

Bayern initiated the 2025–26 season by claiming the German Super Cup and currently enjoys a five-point advantage at the summit of the Bundesliga.

"The contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a robust endorsement from the club, reflecting the outstanding work he has accomplished thus far and signaling a commitment to continuity and stability at Bayern," stated club president Herbert Hainer.

"Vincent is highly respected by the players, club management, and supporters. We are pleased with the timely renewal of our collaboration."

Kompany gained fame during a successful playing career at Manchester City, where he served as captain, made 360 appearances, and won four Premier League titles.

He began his managerial career in 2019 as player-manager of his childhood club Anderlecht, transitioning to a full-time role in 2020 after hanging up his boots. Kompany led Anderlecht to two league titles before taking over at Burnley in 2022.

In his first season at Turf Moor, he guided Burnley to the Championship title, securing their promotion to the Premier League. However, the subsequent season concluded with the club finishing 19th, resulting in relegation.
