Colombo, Oct 14 (NationPress) The Lanka Premier League (LPL) has embraced the Indian sports consortium Witness Sports Alliance LLC, spearheaded by Indian entrepreneurs Saranyan Palaniswamy and K.C. Shyam Kangayan, as they prepare for Season 6. This consortium has taken over the franchise located in the vibrant and iconic Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, introducing a new identity as the Colombo Kaps.

“This acquisition arrives ahead of what is set to be the most significant season of the LPL to date, as the league continues to draw international investment and attention, underscoring its rising prominence among Asia’s most dynamic T20 tournaments. The introduction of Witness Sports Alliance signifies a progressive stride in the LPL’s mission to enhance cross-border collaboration and uplift the cricketing standards in the region, following the recent news of Indian players participating in the league for the first time,” the franchise stated.

Guided by sports entrepreneurs Saranyan Palaniswamy and K.C. Shyam Kangayan, Witness Sports Alliance brings a wealth of franchise cricket experience from its operations in India, now extending into Sri Lanka. Palaniswamy, a seasoned business leader and sports investor, alongside Kangayan, a cricket executive and former CEO & Executive Director of the Ruby Trichy Warriors in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), have both been instrumental in nurturing professional cricket ecosystems across the subcontinent. Together, they also co-own the Ruby White Town Legends in the Pondicherry Premier League (PPL).
