Lucknow, April 12 (NationPress) The Lucknow Super Giants have won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Gujarat Titans in match 26 of the IPL 2025 season at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Shubman Gill’s Titans are currently at the top of the points table, boasting four consecutive victories, while Rishabh Pant’s LSG, positioned fifth, are enjoying a surge of confidence following two back-to-back wins.

In a significant setback for Lucknow, Mitchell Marsh, the in-form opener with 265 runs from five games, has missed the match due to his daughter's illness, leading to Himmat Singh stepping in as his replacement.

“The wicket looks promising. We are pleased with our last two wins. As a unit, we focus on the process, and the team is responding positively. Our bowlers have performed extremely well, and they deserve recognition. Himmat Singh replaces Mitchell Marsh as his daughter is unwell,” Pant mentioned during the toss.

This matchup showcases several intriguing individual contests, notably Nicholas Pooran versus Mohammed Siraj—the tournament's leading run-scorer against the most effective new-ball bowler. Pooran has amassed 288 runs at a strike rate of 225, including 24 sixes, while Siraj has secured 10 wickets in five matches, often making early breakthroughs with precision.

Gill acknowledged at the toss that he would have preferred to bowl first and confirmed that Washington Sundar will once again be included in the starting XI.

“I would have chosen to bowl first as well. I believe the wicket's condition will remain consistent. Everyone is contributing, which has been a key factor for us, and Washi is coming in for Kulwant,” Gill stated.
