Lucknow, March 17 (NationPress) In a significant event prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team had a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday. This courtesy visit was attended by team owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant, where the Chief Minister conveyed his warm wishes for the forthcoming IPL season.

During the interaction, CM Yogi Adityanath commended the Lucknow Super Giants' previous achievements, emphasizing the squad’s talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. He expressed his assurance that the players would put forth their utmost effort to chase the IPL 2025 trophy.

“The Lucknow Super Giants have delivered exceptional performances in past seasons. This team embodies commitment, discipline, and the authentic spirit of the sport. I am optimistic that this season, the players will showcase their abilities and bring pride to the state,” stated the Chief Minister.

Numerous pivotal players, coaches, and management officials were present, including Rishabh Pant (Captain), Aryan Juyal, Himmat Singh, Abdul Samad, along with other players and coaching personnel.

LSG is gearing up to commence their IPL 2025 season with a match against Delhi Capitals, a team previously captained by Pant, on March 24 at the ACAVDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Having reached the playoffs in the IPL 2022 and 2023 seasons, LSG was eliminated in the Eliminator on both occasions. In IPL 2024, LSG concluded the season in seventh position on the points table.

Pant, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, made history as the most expensive player in IPL’s history when LSG secured him for Rs 27 crore at the mega auction last year.

He is now set to be LSG’s fourth captain in their IPL journey, following KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya.

This marks the second IPL team that Pant will lead, having previously captained Delhi Capitals (DC). Pant served as DC’s captain from 2021 to 2024, except for the 2023 season, which he missed while recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022.
