Gwalior, June 8 (NationPress) With the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) set to kick off in just a week at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, the owner of Rewa Jaguars expresses that the MPL serves as a significant platform for emerging cricketers to highlight their skills on a grand scale.
Organized by the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under the guidance of the MP Cricket Association, the MPL is scheduled to commence on June 12.
Beyond mere participation, the Rewa Jaguars ownership aims to establish a franchise that fosters player development both on and off the pitch.
"My goal is to build a franchise that not only enhances players’ livelihoods but also provides them with opportunities for growth. I envision offering personalized coaching to help them become both mentally and physically fit, as long-term association with the franchise can lead to greater success," stated the Rewa Jaguars owner.
"Everyone seeks opportunities to demonstrate their talent or skills in life. The Madhya Pradesh League acts as a platform where individuals can gain exposure for higher levels of competition," he added.
The Rewa Jaguars owner referenced Shivam Shukla as a prime example, noting how he gained attention during the previous MPL season and was subsequently signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Rovman Powell in IPL 2025.
"Shivam Shukla exemplifies the potential the MPL offers. After participating in last year's league, he now plays for KKR. This is the kind of opportunity that draws players to the Madhya Pradesh League," Birla remarked.
He further shared that the MPL, facilitated by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, provides an excellent chance for budding talents raised in Madhya Pradesh to thrive in cricket.
Even Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia referred to the Madhya Pradesh League as a launching pad for young talent during a recent address in Gwalior at the inauguration of the MPL's second season.
This season will also feature a women’s league, with teams like Chambal Ghariyals, Bhopal Wolves, and Bundelkhand Bulls competing.
Commenting on his commitment to women’s cricket, Birla mentioned, "Currently, I do not have plans to purchase or own a women’s team, but I am dedicated to promoting female athletes, evidenced by my support for two young girls in Indore who are training at Dev Academy."
