Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer Awarded Full Central Contracts by ECB

London, Dec 13 (NationPress) Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer have been awarded full central contracts as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the revised England Women's central contracts on Friday. Out of the 17 players granted full contracts, seven have received two-year agreements, which include Heather Knight, Sophie Ecclestone, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The remaining 10 players, among them Tammy Beaumont, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Gaur, and Filer, have been offered contracts lasting one year.
Furthermore, three development contracts have been assigned to Ryana MacDonald-Gay, Issy Wong, and Bess Heath. Notably, MacDonald-Gay made her ODI and T20I debuts for England against Ireland earlier this year.
The Managing Director of England Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, stated: “As always, we have provided central contracts to players whom we believe will play a vital role for England in the upcoming period. We are thrilled that Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer have made the transition to full contracts after being part of our squad over the last year.
“Ryana MacDonald-Gay has had an exceptional year, and the development contract gives her the chance to continue to advocate for selection. We are eager to collaborate with all three players on development contracts and their Counties to support their growth,” Connor remarked.
“We are approaching another crucial phase of cricket, and we have confidence in this group of players' abilities to succeed in various conditions and formats, which will be essential as we anticipate a two-year span featuring the Women’s Ashes in early 2025, several bilateral series, the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India, and a home ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the summer of 2026.
“This marks another significant year in terms of enhanced compensation for England Women. We have successfully implemented another substantial increase in the value of central contracts following last year’s equalization of international match fees for men and women across all formats. We continue to engage positively with the England Women’s Player Partnership (EWPP) and the PCA, and we appreciate their support and constructive feedback on these issues,” Connor added.
