New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) Veteran raider Maninder Singh is thrilled to have found a new team in Patna Pirates after spending seven seasons in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) with Bengal Warriorz. This transition will not only alter the color of his jersey but will also influence the competitive spirit that the team embodies.
Last season was challenging for Maninder, as injuries plagued his performance with Bengal, where he secured only 102 points across a curtailed 15-match campaign. Patna acquired him at a base price of Rs 20 lakh.
“It’s been a positive turnaround, and my family is pleased. My last season was hampered by injuries, and I wasn’t at my peak. I’m grateful that Patna chose me during the auction,” Maninder shared in an exclusive interview with IANS, looking ahead to PKL Season 12.
He affirmed his readiness for the upcoming demanding season, stating, “I’m back in shape. Throughout the off-season, I focused on my fitness with my trainer, physiotherapist, and masseur at home. I feel rejuvenated after joining the camp and engaging with the trainers and coaches.”
“We’re honing every facet of our game. Patna’s success in the tournament is rooted in our rigorous training regimen compared to Bengal. The players’ fitness levels are exceptional, and our diet and recovery sessions are tailored around our training. I can sense a significant change in my physical condition here,” he elaborated.
With the legendary Indian kabaddi player Anup Kumar as their head coach, Maninder believes that the raiders will significantly enhance their bonus-stealing techniques.
“Having Anup Kumar as our head coach is a tremendous advantage. His ability to handle pressure with composure is remarkable. He possesses a knack for securing bonus points, which is invaluable for raiders. His calm demeanor fosters a positive atmosphere within the team,” he remarked.
Having celebrated victory in the inaugural PKL season with Jaipur Pink Panthers, Maninder is eager to assist the three-time champions and last year's runners-up, Patna Pirates, in capturing their fourth title.
“All players are professional and supportive. We engage with each other, sharing experiences, listening to music, and practicing together, which is evident during competitions.”
“I am committed to giving my all for the team and am prepared to lead them toward the fourth title,” he concluded.
