Manish, a former champion, faced a tough challenge against Nitin Kumar Sinha of the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), ultimately triumphing with scores of 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 after a grueling match that extended beyond three hours.
After dropping the first set, the Tamil Nadu athlete regained his form to equalize the match and displayed composure in a nail-biting tiebreak of the final set, ensuring his advancement to the semifinals.
In the women’s singles category, Vaishnavi Adkar exemplified her prowess as the top seed, overwhelming the seventh seed Sahira Singh from Punjab with a score of 6-3, 6-1. The 2025 World University Games Bronze medallist effectively broke Sahira’s serve at pivotal moments in the first set and swiftly concluded the second set to earn her place in the semifinals.
