McDonald Acknowledges Boland's Stellar Performances

Sydney, Jan 4 (NationPress) Australia head coach Andrew McDonald is not taken aback by his pacer Scott Boland's remarkable eight-wicket haul in the current fifth Test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
In his third Test of the five-match series, Boland recorded impressive figures of 4-42 after ending India's first innings with 4-31. His outstanding performance allowed Australia to restrict India to 141/6 at stumps on Day 2.
“We’re not surprised by Scotty’s performances. Every time he steps onto the field, he excels. His knack for being relentless on a length and moving the ball in both directions is proving quite challenging, particularly on this (SCG) surface,” McDonald stated.
“Scotty is always a genuine consideration, and every time he dons the Australian colors, he delivers. We are fortunate to have four exceptional quicks in Josh Hazlewood, (Pat) Cummins, (Mitchell) Stark, and Boland.”
The head coach praised Boland's capability to execute their strategies effectively, especially against Virat Kohli, whom he dismissed for the fourth time in this series.
“Having a plan is one thing, but the ability to execute it, particularly against Virat, has been crucial in putting him under immense pressure.
“He has attempted different tactics, stepping out of his crease and trying various strategies, yet Scotty Boland’s relentless approach has made it incredibly tough for him to recover. He is never an easy wicket,” McDonald remarked.
As the pitch plays a significant role in the series finale, McDonald acknowledges the challenges ahead, despite a low-scoring chase expected on Sunday.
“Games with low scores like this amplify the pressure, so there’s still a long way to go, and plenty of cricket remains to be played. The loss of quick wickets is merely a reflection of the current state of Test cricket.
“Both bowling attacks are blessed with generational talent that we are witnessing. Thus, we are not surprised by the nature of these matches, where new batters often face vulnerability, as seen throughout the series.
“However, if you can establish a partnership, it proves that runs can still be scored on these surfaces,” he added.
India currently leads by 145 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (eight not out) and Washington Sundar (six not out) anticipated to form a strong partnership to extend their lead on Day 3. India will resume their innings from 141/6.
