London, Dec 31 (NationPress) West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has been released from the hospital after a three-week recovery period due to a severe car accident. Antonio underwent surgery for a fracture in his lower limb following the incident on December 7 in Epping, Essex, and was taken to a hospital in central London. Images of the damaged vehicle rapidly circulated online, raising alarm about Antonio's condition.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the National Health Services and Air Ambulances UK, Antonio, who was trapped in the wreckage, was quickly freed from the car and transported to the hospital. The East London club has managed to raise approximately £60,000 through charitable efforts to express gratitude to the NHS and Air Ambulance for their invaluable services.

“West Ham United will contribute nearly £60,000 to the NHS and Air Ambulances UK charities following an auction of match-worn items from their recent Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“The auction, held after Michail Antonio’s traffic accident, will divide the proceeds evenly between the NHS and Air Ambulances UK Charity, the national charity that supports the life-saving efforts of the UK’s Air Ambulance charities,” stated the club.

Antonio is recognized as West Ham's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, netting 68 goals in 268 league appearances.

“We are all thankful for the exceptional care provided by both the NHS and Air Ambulances UK to Michail during this challenging period for him and his family, and for their continuous support to individuals across the nation.

“Unity during tough times is what being a part of West Ham United signifies, and on behalf of the team, I want to express gratitude to everyone for their contributions in raising an amazing sum for two commendable causes,” remarked West Ham captain Jarred Bowen.

West Ham United’s troubles deepened as Antonio was already sidelined; the club confirmed a major setback for their season with the news that captain Jarrod Bowen has suffered a fractured foot. This injury occurred during the Hammers’ 0-5 defeat against Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Currently positioned in 13th place in the Premier League, West Ham faces the challenge of navigating through the demanding January fixtures without their key players.
