Bournemouth Faces a Setback as Turkish Forward Enes Unal Sustains ACL Injury

Bournemouth, Jan 8 (NationPress) AFC Bournemouth has reported that forward Enes Unal has suffered a tear in his right anterior cruciate ligament during a training session this week. The Turkish striker, who has participated in every match for the Cherries since September, has delivered two key goals in the club's record-breaking eight-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League, and he experienced this contact injury during a routine drill on Tuesday morning.
“First and foremost, our thoughts are with Enes at this moment as he begins to process another significant period of rehabilitation ahead. He will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in the coming days, and the club's medical and performance staff will support him in every way possible throughout. We are all behind Enes and will provide updates on his recovery progress when appropriate,” read the statement issued by the club.
This represents a crucial setback for Bournemouth, who also confirmed on Tuesday that forward Evanilson has undergone a successful operation to fix a fractured metatarsal sustained during Saturday's 1-0 victory over Everton.
Another tireless effort from the Brazilian striker, who has been pivotal to the club's recent success, was cut short when he was substituted due to discomfort late in the match against Everton. Further evaluation after the match revealed a broken bone that necessitated surgery.
The club is anticipated to explore the January transfer window in search of replacements for both players, as their attacking capabilities have been significantly compromised in just a few days. The club also announced the acquisition of 19-year-old Argentine full-back Julio Soler on a long-term contract on Tuesday.
Bournemouth currently occupies seventh place in the league standings. With nine victories, six draws, and five losses, the Cherries are now in contention for a spot in European competitions.
