Mason Mount Suffers Injury Blow, Out for 'Several Weeks'

Manchester, Dec 20 (NationPress) English midfielder Mason Mount will be sidelined for Manchester United's busy December schedule after recently incurring an injury. The midfielder's unfortunate luck continued as he appeared visibly distressed when he had to exit the field during the first half of the Manchester derby victory last weekend.

Head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledged prior to the Carabao Cup defeat against Tottenham that Mount, who has displayed great potential in adapting to Amorim's tactics, was 'very sad' in the locker room at the Etihad Stadium, anxious about facing another period on the sidelines. In the lead-up to Sunday's Premier League match against Bournemouth, Amorim was queried about Mount's injury status. 'Several weeks. I don't have an exact timeline, but it will be lengthy. That's football, and we move on,' he stated.

When asked if the overall injury situation was a concern that required further attention, Ruben responded: 'No, that’s not my area of focus.'

'What I can do is support Mase, guiding him on how to adapt to our gameplay during his recovery. We need to utilize this time for him to contemplate different aspects. The most challenging part is that we lack the time to train effectively while managing multiple injuries.'

'For Mason Mount, we will assist him. It is incredibly tough for a player to be out for an extended period while putting in significant effort, just as I am trying hard. If they are dedicated, we will support them until the end.'

With Mason’s injury, Amorim will need to identify other players to step up in his absence. The Portuguese manager was asked whether the underperforming Antony could be a suitable alternative.

“He requires more confidence. If you recall, I faced Antony during my time at Ajax. He is currently lacking a bit of self-assurance to take on defenders one-on-one, but he is making strides. He is working diligently and focusing more on his contributions in the game rather than external factors. He simply needs to keep working hard, and I am more than willing to assist him in becoming a better player,” Amorim remarked.
