Lausanne, May 5 (NationPress) Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB), has been appointed as the Chair of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. This decision was made by IOC president Thomas Bach, following a request from the newly elected president, Kirsty Coventry, who vacated the position after her election.
A former equestrian athlete who has proudly represented the Philippines on the international stage, Jaworski has been part of the IOC EB since 2020. She has established robust ties with Australia, where she trained and competed throughout her career, including events held in Brisbane.
Jaworski is set to lead the forthcoming Coordination Commission meeting in Brisbane from May 20 to 22, where she will be joined by both the IOC president and president-elect.
As the Commission Chair, Jaworski will be responsible for the planning and successful execution of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. Her collaboration will extend to the Organizing Committee, stakeholders from the Olympic Movement, local authorities, and International Sports Federations.
