New Delhi, Nov 3 (NationPress) Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian women's cricket team and a trailblazer in the sport, took to social media to commend the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) for their significant contributions in elevating women's cricket, especially after the Indian women's team achieved a historic World Cup victory.

After the presentation ceremony, the team's jubilant celebrations reached new heights as they embarked on a victory lap, joined by cricketing icons like Mithali, Jhulan Goswami, and Anjum Chopra. Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates presented the trophy to the legends, creating a deeply emotional moment for the trio.

Having retired from the sport three years ago, during the 2022 World Cup, Mithali expressed her joy at witnessing her team uphold the legacy she helped build. She praised both the Indian and international cricketing bodies for their unwavering support of women's cricket.

“What transpired last night is a clear indication that when you nurture a dream, it can indeed come to fruition. The girls played magnificently, but we must also recognize the support that has made this milestone possible, including four years of meticulous planning and faith. Under the leadership of @JayShah Sir as BCCI Secretary, the @BCCI implemented vital initiatives that transformed women's cricket, including equal match fees, the establishment of the Women’s Premier League, a robust domestic framework, India A tours, and a flourishing U19 pathway.

“Currently, the @ICC is instrumental in shaping the women’s game, exemplified by the World Cup being hosted on home soil and a dramatic increase in the prize pool to $13.88 million, quadrupling the previous amount and showcasing the progress made. For every individual supporting a young girl aspiring to don India’s colors, this moment serves as a crucial reminder that dreams can materialize when given the proper support,” Mithali elaborated in a heartfelt post on X.

Remarkably, India triumphed over South Africa by 52 runs in the final held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, capping off a campaign marked by resilience, brilliance, and deep emotional significance.
