Gwalior (M.P.), June 21 (NationPress) Abhishek Pathak showcased an extraordinary display of talent during the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) 2025, scoring an impressive 133 runs off just 48 balls to lead the Bundelkhand Bulls to a thrilling victory against his previous team, the Jabalpur Royal Lions, in Match 18 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The right-handed batsman's remarkable 33-ball century is now the second-fastest in the history of MPL, featuring a stunning assault of 15 sixes and seven fours, achieving a phenomenal strike rate of 277.1. Thanks to his efforts, the Bundelkhand Bulls set a formidable target of 246/6, ultimately winning by 19 runs as the Lions were all out for 227.

After the game, Pathak reflected on his journey from a young cricketer to an MPL sensation: “I began my cricket journey at the age of 13. Since then, I’ve played for Madhya Pradesh at various levels, including U16, U19, and U23, and even participated in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. It’s been a remarkable journey filled with both challenges and triumphs.”

“The encouragement I’ve received from my family and supporters has been tremendous. They never discouraged my passion for cricket, and that made all the difference,” he added.

Pathak’s performance wasn’t a one-time event this season. Just days prior, he scored a remarkable 13-ball fifty, totalling 75 runs off 22 balls, leading the Bundelkhand Bulls to a record-breaking chase of 244 runs.

Interestingly, Pathak had already made a name for himself in the 2024 MPL season, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 269 runs in five matches, playing a vital role in the title-winning campaign for the Jabalpur Lions, which included a stunning 142* off 62 balls. Now representing Bundelkhand in 2025, he seized the perfect moment to strike against his former team. “Last year, I scored runs in the MPL too. When it comes to the IPL, I prefer to stay focused on the present and perform well,” he mentioned.

Known on social media as “Moon Pathak”, Abhishek truly lived up to his nickname, launching balls into the sky throughout the innings. “I remain positive and trust my skills. The wicket was excellent for batting, so I went all out,” he stated.

As for his cricketing idol, Pathak expressed his aspirations: “I aim to develop consistency in my game, taking inspiration from Suryakumar Yadav. That’s a constant goal for me.”
