Jaipur, Oct 3 (NationPress) On Friday, Manju Sharma, a member of the Jaipur legislative assembly, unveiled the MP Sports Festival, underscoring its role as a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing the sports culture throughout the nation.
During her press briefing at the BJP State Office, the Jaipur MP articulated that the main goal is to motivate the youth to embrace fitness, sports, and a vibrant lifestyle.
This festival is designed to ensure equal opportunities for individuals of all genders and age groups to engage in both traditional and contemporary sports, thus providing a platform for local talent to shine on a national level.
She announced that the MP Sports Festival, set to kick off on October 15, will feature traditional games such as kabaddi, kho-kho, wrestling, tug-of-war, handkerchief snatch, sitoliya, matka race, lemon race, and mallakhamb. In addition, modern sports such as cricket, football, volleyball, athletics, archery, wushu, hockey, badminton, chess, and weightlifting will also take place.
Sharma also noted that special competitions will be arranged for women athletes, and teams for the differently-abled will be established. MPs and MLAs will engage directly with these participants to provide motivation and support.
Competitions will be organized at three levels: divisional, assembly, and Lok Sabha. A detailed calendar will be released once the teams are finalized.
She stressed that the MP Sports Festival aligns with the vision of 'Khelo India' and aims to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Fit India, Hit India'.
According to her, the Prime Minister's vision is to connect every citizen with sports, encouraging them to lead a healthy, disciplined life while identifying and nurturing sporting talent from the grassroots level. Sports contribute not only to physical and mental growth but also foster leadership, teamwork, and discipline.
The MP also revealed that events will be held at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium, KL Saini Stadium, Chaugan Stadium, and SMS Stadium in Jaipur.
Exceptional athletes will receive scholarships, cash prizes, and sports equipment. Selected players will also have the chance to compete at the national level.
