Mumbai, April 18 (NationPress) In recognition of the significant contributions made by four of their top stars, the Mumbai Indians have unveiled life-sized statues at the Terminal 2 Arrivals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai.
In a statement released on Friday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise described this as "a remarkable tribute to its cricketing icons".
"In a remarkable tribute to its cricketing icons, Mumbai Indians have honored four of their most legendary players — Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav — by placing their life-size statues at the Terminal 2 Arrivals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA)," the franchise stated in its Friday release.
"These four have not only played for Mumbai — they have played with the spirit of Mumbai. Fearless, unstoppable, and resilient. Each of them represents the essence of the city — overcoming challenges, remaining humble in success, and pushing boundaries with every match," the franchise added.
As Mumbai Indians continue to motivate future generations, this initiative further strengthens the bond between fans and the team, while celebrating the legacy these icons have built in Blue and Gold through #PlayLikeMumbai.
Being one of the original eight franchises that have been active since the inaugural season in 2008, Mumbai Indians are also the most successful franchise in the league's history alongside Chennai Super Kings, having clinched the IPL title five times.
Rohit Sharma holds the record as the most successful player in the IPL with six titles (one with Deccan Chargers) and ranks among the most successful captains with five titles, tying with MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings.
Jasprit Bumrah is on the verge of becoming the top bowler for the franchise, while Hardik Pandya is currently leading the team for the second consecutive year.
A versatile batter capable of striking the ball 360 degrees around the field, Suryakumar Yadav began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians before spending a couple of years with Kolkata Knight Riders. He is recognized as one of the most explosive players in T20 cricket and has captained Mumbai Indians multiple times.
