Mumbai, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Mumbai Marathon has unveiled a groundbreaking route for its 21st edition, set for Sunday, marking a significant milestone in the event's history. For the first time, participants will traverse the newly inaugurated Mumbai Coastal Road, alongside the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

The Coastal Road stands as a testament to contemporary mobility and everyday transit, transforming into a lively course on race day. Runners will be treated to uninterrupted vistas of the Arabian Sea and the city skyline, heralding an exciting new chapter in one of the globe’s most celebrated urban marathons.

Race Categories: Start and Finish Points

Elite Marathon: Kicking off and concluding at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), this race will showcase the world's premier athletes competing on the innovative Coastal Road route.

Amateur Marathon: Commencing at CSMT and finishing on MG Road near Bombay Gymkhana, this course aims to challenge athletes' endurance and determination, offering a fulfilling finish for participants.

Half Marathon and Police Cup: Starting from Mahim Reti Bunder Ground close to Mahim Causeway and concluding at OCS Chowki, this race guides runners through some of South Mumbai’s most famous landmarks.

Open 10K Run, Senior Citizens Run, and Dream Run: Starting at CSMT and concluding at MG Road at the Metro Junction, these categories will bring together thousands of participants from various backgrounds.

Champions With Disability (CWD) Run: This category starts and ends at CSMT, providing a platform for participants to engage with the essence of the event in an inclusive atmosphere.

Anil Kumbhare, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Mumbai, stated, “By integrating the Coastal Road into the Mumbai Marathon 2026 route, we aim to present Mumbai at its finest on an international stage. This new route will offer marathon runners a unique and scenic experience while ensuring the safety and convenience of other commuters. The route has been meticulously planned with extensive inter-agency coordination to guarantee efficient traffic management, robust security deployment, and seamless operations, allowing Mumbai to function smoothly on race day.”

Hugh Jones, Race Director, remarked, “As a race, over the last twenty years, we have strived to provide runners with fresh experiences.
