My Time with Ferrari: A Journey of Four Unforgettable Years - Sainz Prepares for His Final Race

Abu Dhabi, Dec 7 (NationPress) Formula One driver Carlos Sainz expressed that the four years filled with unforgettable moments at Ferrari will remain with him forever as the Spaniard prepares for his concluding race in red at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.

Sainz, who joined the prestigious Maranello team in 2021, became the third Spanish driver to race for them. During his tenure, he has secured four race victories and achieved 26 podium finishes in 88 races. He has also earned six pole positions while with Ferrari and is eager to add another during Saturday's qualifying.

“Four years of unforgettable moments, celebrations, intense battles on the track, and priceless lessons learned. These memories will be etched in my heart forever. Grazie @ScuderiaFerrari,” Sainz shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sainz's teammate, Charles Leclerc, plans to wear a special helmet to honor Sainz for his contributions to the team.

“Special helmet for a special teammate. Thank you for these four remarkable years. Let’s push to the maximum for our final weekend together,” Leclerc remarked on X.

Next season, Sainz will be driving for Williams Racing, while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to take his place at Ferrari.

As he reflects on this chapter of his career, especially with his transition to Williams in 2025, Sainz noted: “This weekend is going to be quite emotional and intense, not just because it's the last but also due to the significance of the constructors’ title at stake.

“This year has been challenging, with numerous factors at play, but I feel proud of how I navigated through it all and maintained my form and readiness to compete.”

Sainz shared his thoughts on what it would mean to win the constructors' title with Ferrari before his departure: “It would mean everything to me.

“It’s the perfect way to bid farewell to my home for the past four years, the team that I have dedicated my utmost effort to. Enjoying every moment with them, concluding with a constructors’ title would be the ideal send-off.”

“I’m also realistic; it’s a challenging task, being 21 points behind two of the fastest drivers and a top-tier team. Recovering those points in one weekend will require perfection from our side and perhaps a less-than-optimal performance from their end.

“It’s still going to be tough, but I’ve witnessed even more daunting situations in racing before. We are determined to give it our all.”

Throughout his Formula 1 career, the 29-year-old has participated in 205 races, achieving four victories, 26 podium finishes, and accumulating 1,254 career points. He currently ranks fifth in this season’s Drivers’ Championship. After becoming the only non-Red Bull Racing driver to win a race in 2023, Sainz most recently claimed victory at the Mexico Grand Prix.

Regarding his personal goal this weekend, Sainz stated: “I would undoubtedly love to contribute to clinching that constructors’ title with a victory.

“Ultimately, a win is essential; I believe we need both cars on the podium to secure the championship, unless something catastrophic occurs with McLaren. That is my objective.”
