Dhaka, Feb 13 (NationPress) Bangladesh's pace star Nahid Rana expressed that he remains unaffected by the 150 kmph label, emphasizing that while speed can be beneficial in a few games, mastering line and length is essential over time.
The right-arm bowler made history as the first Bangladeshi to reach 150 kmph, impressing during a 2-0 Test series triumph over Pakistan in Rawalpindi last September.
"I’m not concerned about the tag of 150 kmph. My priority is to focus on my fitness and deliver the right line and length. Relying solely on speed can yield success in one or two matches, but not consistently throughout the majority, making line and length vital," Rana shared with Cricbuzz.
The 22-year-old is set to play a prominent role in Bangladesh's pace lineup for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, leveraging his natural speed.
"I have been preparing diligently for the Champions Trophy. My goal is to address my weaknesses to enhance my performance. Learning is a continuous journey. Mistakes can happen, but I aim to evolve through the Champions Trophy. Our strategy is to approach each match individually, concentrating on the team's success. I am optimistic about our collective performance," he added.
Rana noted that the recently finished Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) served as an excellent preparation ground for the Champions Trophy, particularly with its favorable batting tracks.
"As a bowler, I must adapt to any type of pitch since international cricket can present unpredictable conditions. The BPL provided batting-friendly wickets, which posed a unique challenge for us.
"Excelling on batting-friendly pitches will prepare us to perform even better when conditions favor bowlers. When assistance is present, the skill of your bowling is truly put to the test, particularly on batting-friendly surfaces," expressed Rana.
Bangladesh will kick off their Champions Trophy journey against India in Dubai on February 20.
