New Delhi, Oct 8 (NationPress) The head coach of India's U23 men's team, Naushad Moosa, has announced a 23-member squad for the upcoming friendly matches against the U23 team from Indonesia, scheduled for October 10 and 13 in Jakarta, coinciding with the FIFA International Match Window.
Following a brief training session in Bengaluru, the Blue Colts arrived in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. Both games will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium, kicking off at 18:30 IST.
Moosa has been at the helm of the U23 squad since June 1, 2025, initiating their training in Kolkata. The long-term vision for the team is to prepare effectively for the 2026 Asian Games set to be held in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, as per the directives from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Blue Colts regrouped less than a month after narrowly missing out on a historic qualification for the AFC U23 Asian Cup, finishing fifth among the best second-placed teams, despite securing victories over Bahrain and Brunei Darussalam. Similarly, Indonesia also faced elimination, concluding their campaign with a 0-1 defeat to the Korea Republic and ranking as the 10th best runners-up out of 11 groups.
Both matches against Indonesia, part of the October FIFA International Match Window, are set to be hosted at the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium and will start at 18:30 IST.
This season, India U23 has already participated in four friendly matches, including travels to Tajikistan in June and two fixtures against Iraq in Malaysia during August.
