New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) India's renowned javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist, concluded the year 2025 with “beautiful memories”, expressing gratitude to everyone who participated in his wedding festivities.
Neeraj Chopra, the first Indian athlete to secure an Olympic gold medal, and his wife, Himani Mor Chopra, celebrated with a reception party on December 26, where they welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent figures in New Delhi. The couple tied the knot earlier this year in January.
“Ending 2025 with beautiful memories. A beautiful time with family, friends, and endless blessings. Thank you for being part of our celebration and showering us with love,” Neeraj Chopra shared on Instagram.
The 27-year-old Chopra experienced a mixed year, achieving a remarkable feat by surpassing the 90-metre mark at the Doha Diamond League but ultimately finishing eighth overall due to fitness challenges, missing the chance to defend his World Championship title. Earlier in the season, he clinched the gold medal at the Golden Spike Ostrava and secured a second-place finish at the 2025 Diamond League final, maintaining his top-two streak since 2021 and his consecutive podium appearances since 2020.
Moreover, he also organized and triumphed in a javelin throw event known as the NC Classic, held in Bengaluru.
The superstar appointed Czech legend Jan Zelezny, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and holder of the javelin throw world record at 98.48 meters, as his new coach at the season's outset.
Chopra etched his name in history by winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first Indian athlete to achieve this milestone. He followed up with a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. In addition, he won both a silver and a gold medal at the World Championships during this time.
