Neeraj Chopra, the first Indian athlete to secure an Olympic gold medal, and his wife, Himani Mor Chopra, celebrated with a reception party on December 26, where they welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several prominent figures in New Delhi. The 27-year-old Chopra experienced a mixed year, achieving a remarkable feat by surpassing the 90-metre mark at the Doha Diamond League but ultimately finishing eighth overall due to fitness challenges, missing the chance to defend his World Championship title. Moreover, he also organized and triumphed in a javelin throw event known as the NC Classic, held in Bengaluru.

The superstar appointed Czech legend Jan Zelezny, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and holder of the javelin throw world record at 98.48 meters, as his new coach at the season's outset.

Chopra etched his name in history by winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first Indian athlete to achieve this milestone. He followed up with a silver medal at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. In addition, he won both a silver and a gold medal at the World Championships during this time.
