New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra exchanged his javelin for a table tennis paddle during his delightful retreat in Switzerland. The Olympic medallist began his scenic getaway in Zurich, engaging in friendly ping pong matches and savoring the exhilarating experience of paragliding amidst breathtaking landscapes.

Following a less-than-stellar eighth-place finish at the World Championships in Tokyo last month, Neeraj took a well-deserved break from his athletic commitments and is now relishing his time in Switzerland.

In a spur-of-the-moment decision, Neeraj jumped into a game of table tennis and emerged victorious in several matches. He then enjoyed a leisurely walk along the Viadukt, Zurich’s trendy repurposed railway line, before ascending the Freitag tower, a structure made from stacked shipping containers in Zurich-West, where the stunning city views left a lasting impression.

“Trying out ping pong for the first time at Josefwiese was a fantastic experience! I’ve always enjoyed friendly competition, and this was a delightful way to mix things up. The atmosphere was light-hearted and energetic, and the park setting enhanced it further,” Neeraj shared.

“After our match, we strolled along the Viadukt, which showcases a different, creative, and modern side of Zurich. Climbing to the top of the Freitag tower offered an extraordinary view of Zurich-West; the city looked utterly beautiful from every angle. Moments like these make Zurich feel special every time I visit,” he added.

Later, he ventured to the enchanting village of Mürren, where he experienced the thrill of paragliding. “Soaring over Mürren was surreal. The view of charming chalets, verdant valleys, and majestic waterfalls felt like a scene from a dream—everything was picture-perfect from every angle! After landing, I enjoyed a relaxing lunch at the Panorama Restaurant in Allmendhubel. The food was delightful, but the mountain view was unforgettable. It was pure peace!”
