Bengaluru, Nov 16 (NationPress) The Netherlands achieved a decisive 3–0 victory against India on the concluding day of the Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs held at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

In the first singles match, Anouk Koevermans showcased her skills by overcoming India’s Shrivalli Bhamidipaty (World No. 381). Koevermans took an early advantage with a break, leading 2-1 in the first set, and maintained her dominance, winning it 6-2. Bhamidipaty attempted a comeback in the second set, yet the higher-ranked Dutch player remained steadfast, concluding the match with scores of 6-2, 6-4.

After her victory, Koevermans stated, “I informed the captain that I wanted to chase every ball, as it keeps me engaged and forces my opponent into making more errors, which she did. Running for every ball is crucial to remain competitive, so I committed to that.”

The second singles match featured Lamens, ranked 89 globally, against India’s Sahaja Yamalapalli (World No. 309). Lamens dominated the first set with a 6-2 score and carried that momentum into the second set. Although Yamalapalli managed to equalize at 2-2 after an early break, Lamens quickly regained control, securing another break to lead 4-3 before finishing with a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Yamalapalli later remarked, “It was a challenging match. Suzan is an excellent player with significant experience. She tested me at every point; there were no unforced errors from her side, compelling me to stay focused on each point. It was tough, but it provided valuable experience, highlighting the level I aspire to reach and the lessons I need to learn.”

The tie concluded with the doubles match, where Lamens partnered with Demi Schuurs to face India’s Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare. The Dutch pair dominated from the outset, allowing only one game in the first set and quickly establishing a 3-0 lead in the second. With complete control, Lamens and Schuurs secured a triumphant 6-1, 6-1 victory, resulting in a clean sweep for the Netherlands.
