Pune, April 11 (NationPress) The talented duo, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Vaidehi Chaudhari, made a pivotal contribution to India's journey towards securing a playoff position in the Billie Jean King Cup Asia-Oceania Group 1, leading the home team to a 2-1 triumph over Chinese Taipei on Friday. This victory marks the third consecutive win for the hosts, elevating them to the second position on the points table in this esteemed tournament, organized by MSLTA in collaboration with ITF, AITA, and PMDTA.

Vaidehi Chaudhari continued her impressive form, achieving her second victory in as many matches against Fang An Lin at the Mahalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex in Pune.

Ranked 351 in singles, the Indian player showcased her dominance in the first set, although her opponent challenged her in the deciding set. Nevertheless, Vaidehi responded with poise and clinched the match with a scoreline of 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 after 2 hours and 9 minutes, giving India a 1-0 lead in the tie.

In the second contest, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty upheld her flawless record in the tournament, securing her fourth straight win in a challenging match against Joanna Garland, who is ranked 207.
