New Delhi, Feb 15 (NationPress) Jaspal Rana and Deepali Deshpande have rejoined the coaching ranks as multiple former shooters were officially announced as coaches for the national team following directives from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).

These appointments were part of several significant resolutions made during the NRAI's Governing Body Meeting (GBM) held at the Constitution Club in the capital earlier on Saturday.

Among the noteworthy appointments, Deepali Deshpande and Jaspal Rana, both Dronacharya Award winners, will serve as head coach (Rifle) and High-Performance Coach (25m), respectively, marking their return to the national coaching framework. A total of 16 new members have been added to the coaching staff, while 19 have been retained, including one coordinator (Amar Jung Singh) and two coaches (Priti Sharma and Anuja Jung) for Deaf Shooters.

Among the prominent former shooters now appointed as national team coaches are the esteemed Jitu Rai (recipient of Padma Shri and Khel Ratna for 10m Air Pistol), as well as notable internationals Pooja Ghatkar (10m Air Rifle), Pemba Tamang (25m Pistol), Amarinder Cheema (Skeet), and Varsha Tomar (Trap), among others.

Additionally, two High-Performance Managers, Mansher Singh and Ronak Pandit, have been appointed for the Shotgun and Pistol disciplines, respectively.

In addition to Jaspal, other High-Performance Coaches include D.S. Chandel (Air Rifle), Anwer Sultan (Trap), and Manoj Kumar (50m Rifle). Experienced coaches Vikram Chopra (Shotgun) and Samaresh Jung (Pistol) have also been retained and will join Deepali Deshpande as co-head coaches.

Additional key decisions regarding the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI) were made during the meeting. Notably, Elena Norman, former CEO of Hockey India, has been appointed as a consultant for the league. New Horizons Alliance Pvt. Ltd. has been selected as the Commercial and Marketing Agency.
