New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) Darwin Nunez has officially completed his transfer to Al Hilal SFC from the English champions Liverpool, while Inigo Martinez has made his move from Barcelona to Al Nassr Club.
Nunez is the latest high-profile addition to Al Hilal, a club that recently stunned Manchester City to advance to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Hilal announced the signing in a statement, confirming that the Uruguayan striker has joined on a three-year deal.
During his time at Anfield, the 40-goal scorer made 143 appearances but found himself lower in the lineup under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
Coached by former Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi, Al Hilal's roster features notable players like Ruben Neves, Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to AFC.
Barcelona confirmed Martinez's exit on Saturday.
The 34-year-old defender played 71 matches for the club after his transfer from Athletic Bilbao in 2023, contributing to their Spanish title victory last season.
Martinez previously had a seven-year tenure at Real Sociedad after rising through the academy ranks, followed by six years at Bilbao. He also earned 21 caps for Spain from 2013 to 2023.
Meanwhile, Japan's international winger Ito has rejoined Genk after three years away, having left for Stade de Reims in France. The 32-year-old returns to Belgium following Genk's relegation from Ligue 1 last season.
“It feels like coming home,” Ito expressed. “During my previous time here, I achieved my career's greatest successes, and I am prepared to compete for trophies once again.
“Even while in France, I kept a close eye on KRC Genk. When I heard of their interest, my decision was made swiftly. I have always felt welcomed here and can’t wait to reunite with the fans. I’m eager to give my all for the blue and white once more.”
