Mumbai, Jan 7 (NationPress) Mumbai Indians' captain Harmanpreet Kaur declared that the team's approach as they enter the Women’s Premier League (WPL) remains unchanged: their goal is victory, similar to their previous success. MI stands as the most accomplished franchise in the league, having secured the championship twice, in 2023 and 2025.

In anticipation of the upcoming season, MI executed a successful mega-auction, retaining key players while enhancing their lineup with talented Indian domestic cricketers.

With new talents rising in the cricketing scene, Harmanpreet expressed satisfaction with the recruitment of fresh talent, noting the extensive player pool available in the country.

"Mumbai has always held a special place in my heart. This city has brought me numerous positive outcomes. I’m hopeful this season will be exceptional. Our focus remains fixed on winning the WPL again. A few years ago, the player pool was just 20-25, but now it's expanded significantly. We are thrilled to have more talent at our disposal," stated the captain during a media briefing ahead of the tournament's fourth edition.

This tournament is vital for players from all teams as they seek to secure spots on their national squads for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in England in June.

Following her leadership in guiding India to the ODI World Cup victory in November 2025, Harmanpreet is even more determined. The Women in Blue achieved their inaugural ICC title, defeating South Africa by 52 runs during the final on November 2 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
