New Chandigarh, April 14 (NationPress) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Manish Pandey revealed that his upbringing in a military environment significantly contributed to his discipline in maintaining fitness. Besides his explosive batting, Pandey has garnered acclaim for his remarkable fielding abilities, which are rooted in his strong fitness.

“Growing up in a military family was beneficial for me as a child because we had numerous opportunities to engage in various sports. This really laid the groundwork for my fitness journey,” Pandey mentioned in an episode of 'Train Like a Knight'.

Pandey, who made a single appearance in IPL 2025 scoring 19 runs in KKR’s loss to Mumbai Indians (MI), shared insights about his typical fitness regimen. “I keep it straightforward, aiming for two strength and two cardio sessions each week.”

Regarding his nutrition, Pandey, 35, indicated that he opts for a light breakfast before hitting the gym. “I’m not a big breakfast person. My usual breakfast includes eggs and porridge, allowing me to start my workout shortly afterward.”

“For lunch, I tend to eat a bit more since I’ve completed my gym session. I might include another boiled egg and some yogurt in my meal,” he added.

Pandey also expressed his fondness for yogurt in his dishes. “No matter what meal I have, whether it's rice or dal, there’s always yogurt involved. It’s beneficial for digestion, especially in summer, keeping me feeling light.”

To support his recovery after matches, Pandey mentioned that he includes other sources like flax seeds and fish oil, known for their omega-3 content. KKR, the reigning champions, currently sit in fifth place in the points table and will compete against the sixth-placed Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
